May 20th update
LD 178 is officially and ceremonially signed!
Several of the Maine Adoption Leaders Team (MALT)
attended a ceremonial bill signing of LD 178, An Act To
Create the Support Animal Welfare Registration Plate
by Governor John Baldacci, on Wednesday, May 20th.
The signing marked the end of a record-breaking campaign
embraced by the people of Maine (2,000 people prepurchased
the plate in only 78 days) and with the
overwhelming support by Maine’s lawmakers. The bill
passed 35-0 in the Senate and easily cleared the House.
Maine's companion animals need your
ongoing support.
The adopt plates are now
in production and will be
available for sale through
town halls and BMVs in
October. Vouchers will
be issued at the end of
September to the 2,000
people who pre-paid for
a plate. |
