Update October 7th
Now that the plate is official, all questions about vanity plates, plate number
changes and pre-purchased plates should be directed to the BMV at
(207) 624-9000 x 52146 or vanity.plate@maine.gov. They are very friendly and
eager to serve you!
Will the plate be available for trailers or motorcycles?
Unfortunately, no. It is only
good only for cars, vans, and other non-commercial vehicles.
Is my current plate transferable?
Yes, both regular license numbers and vanity
plates are transferable.
I pre-purchased a plate, but I have not been notified. What do I do?
If you were
one of the 2,000 people who pre-purchased a plate and made this all possible,
you should have already received a plate voucher from the Secretary of State's
office. If you have not received it yet, please contact the BMV at the phone number
or email address listed above
Who is the group behind this initiative?
It is the newly formed “Maine’s Adoption Leaders Team” (MALT) consisting of people from -
